Oakland County Juneteenth Events and Celebrations – Join in on honoring local heroes, mentors, and community leaders while celebrating African-American culture.
The day was recognized as a federal holiday in 2021, when President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law. Since then, more and more local communities have begun to honor the holiday officially ending slavery with celebrations and ceremonies.
