Family-friendly, interactive exhibit! The Cranbrook Institute of Science Dinosaurs Exhibit tells the story of the Earth’s past mass extinctions and explores the prehistoric times when dinosaurs ruled the land. Children will enjoy activities created just for them. Visitors will see full-size dinosaur skeletons, including Tyrannosaurus Rex and Edmontosaurus, and walk through the five large-scale mass extinctions that occurred over the last 500 million years. Continue the legacy of Earth Day by learning how you can help the environment in your very own backyard. Drop in for a compost demonstration and make “seed balls” for pollinators. Take a hike to learn about stewardship activities at Friendship Woods. Dirt Doctors will be on site with a hands-on demonstration and Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash will display his electric car and renewable energy technology. Rochester Hills Weekend Events – Arbor Day Commemorative Tree Planting
SW Corner of Livernois & Avon Rd at Eagles Landing
The Forestry Division conducts an annual tree-planting ceremony with the Mayor presiding and often a local scouting or youth group in attendance. Different sites are selected each year for the Arbor Day tree; Borden, Spencer, and Avondale Parks, Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farms, Meadow Brook Hall, Eagles Landing, and City Hall grounds have all been chosen in the past.
