5,000 square foot exhibit that uses biomechanics of complex animal robots to demonstrate how real animals work. The larger-than-life-size animated robots include a chameleon, a rhinoceros, a giant squid with 18-foot tentacles, and a platypus. Also featured are a house fly with a 10-foot wingspread, a grasshopper, a bat, and a giraffe. Animation in the robots imitates real-life behaviors. Open through September 8. Review / Pics / Video

The Cranbrook Institute of Science Dinosaurs Exhibit tells the story of the Earth’s past mass extinctions and explores the prehistoric times when dinosaurs ruled the land. Visitors will see full-size dinosaur skeletons, including Tyrannosaurus Rex and Edmontosaurus, and walk through the five large-scale mass extinctions that occurred over the last 500 million years.
