Learn about these flying mammals and look for them during our night hike. Listen to echolocation using a bat detector that brings high frequency sounds to a level humans can hear. $6/person. Spring migration has come again, and the Friendship Woods are teaming with warblers. Take a naturalist-guided hike to see some of the marvelous migrants before they move on. There are two sessions: a morning hike for advanced birders (8-9:30 a.m.), and an afternoon hike and craft for beginning birders (11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.). Please register according to your skill level. $4/morning session, $6/afternoon session. Pre-registration with payment required. Call 248-858-0916 weekdays. No weekend registration. Get your hands dirty as you learn how gardens grow. Discover different types of gardening and the plant life cycle. Plant a seed to take home and continue the lesson. Each homeschool program is adapted for ages 5-9 and ages 10-17. Pre-registration is required; call 248-858-0916 on weekdays during regular business hours; no on-site registration will be available. Sessions are designed as drop-off programs for youth. Sessions run 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. All students are welcome, whether from a traditional homeschool, pod or virtual learning setting. A release form must be completed with registration. Cost: $10/session. Programs may take place outdoors – under a tent or on a trail. A water bottle and outdoor dress are recommended.
