Oakland County Playgrounds and Playscapes

Oakland County Playgrounds and Playscapes – Rochester / Rochester Hills Playgrounds

Innovation Hills Playground at Innovation Hills Park (2800 W Hamlin Road, Rochester Hills, MI 48307, 248-656-4673,
At a full 3-acres, it’s hard not to be impressed by this one. Innovation Hills giant playground features nature-themed playscapes dotting the terrain that are accessible and friendly for children across a wide range of physical and mental abilities. The playscapes are designed to look like they could part of a natural landscape as opposed to garishly designed monstrosities you typically see at a park. For a playground, it’s almost peaceful. Just be sure to keep a close eye on your children as they explore, the expansive place makes it easy (and tempting) for them to wander. More info & more pics

Oakland County Playgrounds and Playscapes – Waterford Playgrounds

All Kids Playground at Hess-Hathaway Park (825 S Williams Lake Rd, Waterford, MI 48327, 248-674-5441
Maintained by Waterford Parks and Recreation. A vast playground that incorporates a farm theme to match the area’s heritage and history. The Hess-Hathaway Playground is fully enclosed which makes keeping an eye on kids ideal. The playground was launched in 2002 through donations but it is impeccably maintained, it even features a neat kids maze. More info & more pics

Oakland County Playgrounds and Playscapes – Clarkston Playgrounds

Ryan Kennedy Memorial Playground at Clintonwood Park (6000 Clarkston Road, Clarkson, MI 48348, 248-625-8223,
Maintained by Independence Township Parks, Recreation & Seniors. Clintonwood Park used to be a sports park you took the kids for their youth sports. Now with this new (2017) playground, the newly renovated spray park, and feature events like FREE Kids Day in the Park, and Independence Fest, there are more reasons to enjoy this great park. Oakland County Playgrounds and Playscapes – Rochester Hills Playgrounds

Bloomer Park Playscape at Bloomer Park (375 John R Road, Rochester Hills, Michigan 48309,
Maintained by the City of Rochester Hills Parks & Forestry department. Hometown playground has to make my list of favorite Oakland County playgrounds and playscapes. This large playscape has many creative elements in and around the large play structure and the entire area is surrounded by picnic tables and magnificent scenery. Indoor restrooms are in the nearby stone shelter pavilion. Bloomer sporadically charges for admission to the park but the booth is rarely (if ever) manned pre Memorial Day or post Labor Day.

Oakland County Playgrounds and Playscapes – Lake Orion / Orion Twp Playgrounds

Dragon’s Den Playground at Friendship Park (3380 W Clarkston Rd, Lake Orion, Michigan 48362,
Maintained by Orion Twp Parks and Rec, Dragon’s Den features huge slides and plenty of swings. The playscape is in a wide-open area so it’s very easy to keep an eye on the kids from any of the numerous benches. The indoor bathrooms are just a stone’s throw away from the activities. Oakland County Playgrounds and Playscapes – Southfield Playgrounds

Beech Woods Park Southfield (22200 Beech Rd, Southfield, MI 48033, 248-796-4670 Beech Woods Rec Center Office, 248-796-4620 Southfield Parks & Rec Department,
It’s not glitzy with high-rise playstructures, but we like this playground for several reasons. It’s sprawling and has many fun wheelchair accessible features. The playground is adorned with many paths that lead to other great features of the park – the awesome indoor Beech Woods Recreation Center, well-maintained tennis courts, clean pavilion, driving range, and nature trails. Clean picnic tables are located smack dab in the middle of the playground itself making it VERY easy to keep on your kids. More info and more pics

Oakland County Playgrounds and Playscapes – Waterford Playgrounds

Paradise Peninsula at Waterford Oaks County Park (1702 Scott Lake Rd, Waterford, MI 48328, 1-88-OCPARKS,
Built in 2010, The Great Lakes–themed universally accessible Paradise Peninsula features climbing and learning fun. Look for an “up north woods” cabin, tree fort play structure, sand dunes area, marsh with cattails, raised sand play area and multiple climbing areas. Colorful rubberized surfacing depicts Michigan’s lakes, dunes and forests. Paradise Peninsula is by far the most creative playground of the Oakland County playgrounds but be careful when supervising youngsters, there are a lot of hiding places. More info and more pics

Oakland County Playgrounds and Playscapes – White Lake Playgrounds

Indian Springs Metropark Adventure Playground (5200 Indian Trail, White Lake, MI 48386, 248-625-6640,
Located at Meadowlark picnic area inside Indian Springs Metropark, Adventure Park Playground isn’t a typical big playground with a large playscape. Adventure park SPRAWLS across the area and features a large climbing zone, adventure maze, and a ropes course! There’s even a FREE, newly renovated splash pad nearby (open Memorial Day through Labor Day). Nearby, there’s a barrier-free Tot Lot with smaller playground equipment. More info and more pics

Oakland County Playgrounds and Playscapes – Oxford Playgrounds

Kids Kingdom at Seymour Lake Park (2795 Seymour Lake Rd, Oxford Twp, MI 48371, 248-628-1720,
Kids Kingdom is a Medieval-themed playscape / playground that is fenced-in and comes complete with a draw bridge entrance and modern indoor restrooms for “Princes” & “Princesses” within the confines. As the pics show, Kids Kingdom is very clean and impressive! I certainly appreciate how the entire “kingdom” is self-contained making it a breeze to keep an eye the kids. Kids Kingdom is within walking distance of the low-cost, fun, KLR Splashpad. The makers of Kids Kingdom thought of everything when it comes to fun for the kids and convenience for the parents.
