Metro Detroit Special Needs Events Calendar – Special needs events calendar for Metro Detroit and Oakland County, Michigan. Events, activities, things to do for individuals with special needs.

This Metro Detroit Special Needs Events Calendar is for informational purposes and the events are not necessarily endorsed by Oakland County Moms. Oakland County Moms is not responsible for venue changes, description changes, cancellations etc.

These events are just some of the programs offered by the various organizations featured here. Feel free to contact them to learn more about their special needs sports, leagues, and other fun events for adults and children when special needs.

To submit an event for consideration for this Metro Detroit Special Needs Events Calendar, please fill out this formI try to post special needs events for adults and children with special needs that are free or low-cost.

DUE TO COVIDOur calendar will still focus on in-person events. There are many local P&R departments and organizations that offer ZOOM events. We at Oakland County Moms recommend the following programs for ZOOM meetings for individuals with special needs – OUCARES, Troy Recreation, Independence Twp Recreation (Therapeutic Recreation), and Woodside Bible Church (Troy) . In addition the benefit of health and safety, an underrated aspect of these ZOOM programs and events is that your special needs child or young adult can participate with new faces as residency isn’t a factor and there are many opportunities to truly meet NEW people that your child or young adult with special needs wouldn’t meet under different circumstances as local in-person groups tend to have the same participants.

We also recognize the importance of face to face, in-person interaction and salute the efforts being made to re-introduce special needs children and young adults to the socialization of in-person programming.
