Metroparks FREE Admission During Coronavirus – Social distancing, exercise, and nature have never been easier (or more affordable). your 13 Metro Detroit Metroparks are offering FREE admission on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from now through May 15, 2020.

The Metroparks have canceled popular programs from their calendar from March 14 through May 28. All the Metroparks nature facilities will be closed during these dates, but all 13 parks will remain open.

SUMMER 2020 METROPARKS UPDATES

UPDATE 5/13 – Due to Covid-19, The Metroparks have announced the following info in regards to the 2020 summer season…

  • FREE Park Entry on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays ends on May 15, 2020
  • Parks will limit capacity to 60% of normal capacity to limit overcrowding
  • Boat rentals will remain closed but boat access to lakes & rivers will remain open
  • Pools, splash pads, and the Turtle Cove Aquatic Center will open this summer – Mid June for splash pads, early July for Turtle Cove (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)
  • Nature Centers & programming will restart June 16
  • Fireworks are canceled
  • Summer Concerts through July 4 are canceled

Metroparks disc golf courses are closed until further notice
Metroparks park offices are closed until further notice
Metroparks interpretive centers are closed until further notice. This includes all nature centers, farm centers and the Marshlands Museum
Metroparks restrooms are closed until further notice

The Metroparks are extending hours and welcome you to spend more time spreading out to find different trails and be mindful of social distancing. Extended Hours include…

  • Kensington, Lake Erie, Stony Creek and Lake St. Clair Metroparks – 6a-10p
  • Indian Springs, Hudson Mills, Huron Meadows, Lower Huron and Willow Metroparks – 7a to 10p
  • Dexter Huron and Delhi Metroparks – 8a to 8p
  • Oakwoods Metropark – 8a to dusk
  • Wolcott Mill Metropark Historic Center Trails – 9a to 5p
  • Wolcott Mill Metropark Camp Rotary Trails – 9a to 8p

Metroparks FREE Admission During Coronavirus

The Metroparks have also announced they will adding content to their website, www.metoraprks.com, which will allow parents and children to download scavenger hunts that can either be completed in the park, or from the comfort of your vehicle during visits.

In addition to Metroparks FREE admission, the Metroparks website will soon be launching a video series from their interpretive staff which will include lessons in art, nature, and history. These videos will include hands-on lessons with weekly new content. (REVIEW)
