It is summer so of course we have to start this list off with the Metroparks’ splash pads and beaches nearby.

Young children will enjoy the splash pad located within Indian Springs Metropark’s Spray ‘n’ Play. Get soaked by ground sprays, water cannons, and a dumping bucket. The spray park is located adjacent to a brand-new playground.

Find the ultimate relief from the warm, summer sun and loads of fun for the entire family at Kensington Metropark’s Splash ’n’ Blast. Coast down two, 240-foot twisted water slides or romp through the spray ground with palm trees, serpents and cannons that spray water.

Head over to Eastwood Beach to fly down the 50-foot tall 230-foot long Quadzilla Slide. This massive four-lane inflatable water slide is a great way to bring a little extra thrill to your beach day.

Not only do both Kensington and Stony Creek Metropark have a beach but each park actually has TWO! All 4 beaches are the ideal settings for a day of fun and sunshine in the great outdoors. If you’re looking to have a meal or scoop of ice cream at the beach, both Martindale Beach at Kensington and Eastwood Beach at Stony Creek Metropark have concessions available.
Metroparks Summer Fun Things To Do – Metroparks Nature Centers
For those looking to get the children out of the house to explore the world around them, the Metroparks interpretive centers offer opportunities to learn something new and discover the outdoors.

Outside the nature center, you will find 60 acres of restored native prairie ecosystems with nature trails, boardwalks and a wildflower garden throughout. Inside you will find interactive exhibits featuring the diversity of the park’s ecosystems, including the underwater pond dome.

Find educational exhibits and live animal displays to enhance your understanding and enjoyment of the ecosystems, wildlife, and history of the park. Explore seven miles of nature trails around the Nature Center, a must visit for birders!

Metroparks Summer Fun Things To Do – Playgrounds and Picnics
The Metroparks have no shortage of playgrounds to tire out your kids. Near Indian Springs Metropark’s splash pad is the brand-new playground – your family can be some of the first to try out the new playscape. Kensington Metropark’s Maple Beach playground was built using universal design principles making it accessible so that children of all abilities can play. Stony Creek Metropark features a large playscape right near Eastwood Beach, making it one of the most popular spots in the summertime.
As always after all the playing, a meal is needed and what’s better than packing a picnic lunch to share in the park! Picnic tables are available all throughout the Metroparks located conveniently near amenities and scenic views.
Metroparks Summer Fun Things To Do – Golf
Indian Springs, Kensington and Stony Creek Metropark each boast a beautiful 18-hole regulation golf course. Each course offers experiences for golfers of all skills levels and feature scenic views with plenty of opportunity to view wildlife. Plus, did you know that after 5p, parents or grandparents can bring their child or grandchild and play 9 holes for only $25? The price includes one parent/grandparent’s greens fee, one child/grandchild’s greens fee and cart rental.
