Blake’s Cider Mill Orchard / U-Pick / Barnyard Funland / Ciderhouse & Winery
17985 Armada Center Rd, Armada, Michigan 48005, 586-784-5343, www.blakefarms.com
Blake’s Cider Mill is the biggest of the Macomb County cider mills and also the biggest cider mill in Michigan! It also has the most to offer and the most fun things to do. The vision of Blake’s Cider Mill expands well beyond produce and cider. Its atmosphere is almost like a state fair during Blake’s Cider Mill weekly, all season Fall Festivals. Review – Pics.

Blakes Barnyard Funland

Hy’s Cider Mill and Orchard
6350 37 Mile Rd., Romeo, Michigan 48065, 810-798-3611, www.hyscidermill.com
Hy’s is at the northernmost part of Macomb County and located near cider mill favorites Westview Orchards, Blake’s Cider Mill, Miller’s Big Red Orchard, Stony Creek Cider Mill and others. Hy’s Cider Mill isn’t nearly as suited for typical fall fun as the other mills. Their primary business model is making cider and shipping to stores for consumption rather than being a tourist destination. Review.

Big Red Orchard
4900 32 Mile Rd, Washington Twp, Michigan 48095, 586-752-7888, www.bigredorchard.com
The expansive farm is a beautiful property that offers u-pick fruits and veggies that run through their respective seasons. The farm transforms into fall fun in late August. In addition to the huge country store, there is plenty of fall fun for all ages. Review – Pics.

Stony Creek Orchards Cider Mill
2961 W 32 Mile Road, Romeo, Michigan 48065, 586-752-2453, www.stonycreekorchard.com
Stony Creek Cider Mill is a fully functioning orchard and farm located on 32 mile road in Romeo. Open from 9a–6p every day in the Fall, Stony Creek Cider Mill has a store that offers traditional autumn fare in a rustic store setting. Not big on fall family fun, but the cider and donuts are delicious (some say best around) AND very affordable. Review – Pics.

Westview Orchards and Adventure Farm

Westview Orchards and Adventure Farm is a full-service winery and cider mill that offers u-pick fruits and veggies through the season. While facets of the farm are open nearly year-round, the real fun is in the fall! Westview Orchards Cider Mill has great attractions for kids during the fall weekends on its 3 acre playground. On Saturdays and Sundays from Labor Day weekend through Halloween from 10a-5p, kids are welcome to explore acres and acres of cider mill and farm fall fun. Westview is large, well taken care of, the grounds are immaculate, and the facilities are clean! Review – Pics.

Cider Mills Metro Detroit – Oakland County Cider Mills

Ashton Orchards Cider Mill
3825 E Seymour Lake Rd, Ortonville, Michigan 48462, 248-627-6671
Ashton Cider Mill pleasing location holds many clean picnic tables and sturdy playground equipment for kids to relax and enjoy their cider. Ashton Orchards may be short on widespread entertainment like Blake’s but there is a lot of charm to the place. I really admired the cleanliness and simplicity of the farm. A great roadside cider mill stop. Review – Pics.

Ashton Orchards

Blake’s Cider Mill Lyon Twp (Formerly Erwin Orchards & Cider Mill
61475 Silver Lake Road, South Lyon, Michigan, 248-437-0150, www.blakefarms.com
The family/owners of Erwin Orchards retired in 2022 and taking over for the Fall of 2022 is the Blake’s Cider family of properties. Blake’s has big plans for their newest location as they expand into Oakland County. Review – Pics

Diehl’s Cider Mill
1479 Ranch Rd, Holly, MI 48442, 248-634-8981, diehlsorchard.com
A trip to Diehl’s feels more like a trip “up North” than it does to any of the typical Oakland County cider mills. One reason may be due to the fact that Diehl’s really is “off the beaten path” when it comes to location. Diehl’s Cider Mill doesn’t really dress itself up to be a big-time fall tourist destination like other local cider mills even though the mill has some very nice attributes. Review – Pics.

Franklin Cider Mill
7450 Franklin Rd, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan 48301, 248-626-2968, www.franklincidermill.com
Unlike the sprawling acres at most of the cider mills in Macomb County, the grounds around Franklin Cider Mill are cozy. Frankin Cider Mill is charming, it almost has a romantic setting. Located just a mile from the hustle bustle of Telegraph, the grounds of Franklin Cider Mill are beautiful and well-maintained. While most cider mill staffs are friendly, Franklin Cider Mill staff goes out of their way to assist and take “courteous” to a new level. Review – Pics.

Goodison Cider Mill
4295 Orion Rd, Rochester, Michigan 48306, 248-652-8450, goodisoncidermill.com
Goodison is tiny, don’t blink when you’re driving or you’ll miss it! Goodison Cider Mill doesn’t look like much from the outside but the aromas of the cider mill may draw you from anywhere within a quarter-mile radius. Because it’s so close to Orion Road with convenient parking, Goodison is an ideal place to pop in for cider. You’ll be back in the road with your cider and donuts in under a minute! Review.

Parmenter’s Cider Mill
714 Baseline, Northville, Michigan, 248-349-3181, www.northvillecider.com
A cider mill AND a winery? Count me in! Since 1873, Parmenter’s Cider Mill has been dishing out fresh cider. The Northville Winery is located on-site and offers wine tasting during busier times of the fall season. The cider mill is just beautiful – inside and out. Sure, the rustic red barn charm is gorgeous on the outside but the inside is tastefully decorated and inviting. The inside of Parmenter’s has all the appeal of an old-country kitchen, yet it is somehow elegant and graceful at the same time. Review – Pics.

Rochester Cider Mill
5125 N. Rochester Rd, Rochester Hills, Michigan 48306, 248-651-4224, rochestercidermill.com
Even though Rochester Cider Mill isn’t the biggest tourist attraction of the local cider mills, its rustic charm and variety of goods make it a nice local mill to visit frequently in the fall to stock up on many fall favorites. Rochester Cider Mill is rural, country charm. You feel like you’re almost transported to a 1920s general store. Rochester Cider Mill has made several improvements to the location recently. The grounds are a lot cleaner than they used to be and they’ve begun selling ice cream in the summer. I’m told even more changes may be coming. Review – Pics.

Three Cedars Farm
7897 Six Mile Road, Northville, MI 48167, 248-437-8200, www.threecedarsfarm.org
Three Cedars Cider Mill delivers “old-fashioned fun for all ages” on the beautiful, sprawling farm. There’s plenty of fun to be had for the very young and the very old. The entire farm is decked out for fall in festive (almost garish), country-time decor. Three Cedars is one of the largest Oakland County cider mills so there is plenty to see, do, and purchase! The General Store is the fall equivalent of Bronner’s Christmas Village in Frankenmuth. It’s impressive. Three Cedars Cider Mill offers a fun and educational Barn Yard Play Land for kids! Review – Pics.

Yates Cider Mill
1990 E. Avon Road, Rochester Hills, Michigan 48307, 248-651-8300, www.yatescidermill.com
Nestled along the banks of the Clinton River and situated at the corner of Avon Rd and Rd, Yates is one of the most popular cider mills in Metro Detroit. The crowds Yates draws on fall weekends are incredible and even the weekdays are busy with seemingly unending school field trips! Yates has even been featured on Food Network. Review – Pics.

Plymouth Orchards Cider Mill offers scenic grounds, an educational mill, farm animals to see and feed, a party room to rent, wagon rides, and delicious cider and donuts. Not the most entertaining cider mill for
kids, the cider mill / store / market area of Plymouth Orchards is impressive. Review – Pics.

Metro Detroit Cider Mills – No Longer Open (But Missed)

Paint Creek Cider Mill
4480 Orion Rd, Rochester, Michigan 48306, 248 656-3400, www.facebook.com/PaintCreekCiderMill
Paint Creek Cider Mill Rochester is operated by the Parks and Recreation Commission for Oakland Township and the Paint Creek Trailways Commission. Paint Creek Cider Mill isn’t the most authentic of the Oakland County cider mills. The water wheel is just for show, much of the building is unoccupied or shared with the Parks and Rec department etc.. But, the great location and beauty of the building itself makes the trip worth it. It’s a nice, quick way to get your cider fix and perhaps enjoy a tasty lunch at the year-round cafe. Review – Pics.

Middleton Farms Cider Mill – CLOSED
46462 Dequindre Ave, Shelby Twp, Michigan 48317, 586-731-6699
Middleton Cider Mill is located on Dequindre Road in Shelby Twp, MI just a stone’s throw from M-59.
